Welcome Back to School – Brookeland ISD

Fall 2022

We are off to a great start to our new school year in Brookeland ISD. Our faculty,
students, parents, and community members are all valuable contributors to our
success. We are looking forward to our daily work as a team. Overseeing
operations at the campus level are our administrators – Principal, Charlotte Odom;
Counselor, Stacy Gillis; and Assistant Principal, Donald Hubbard.
In spite of the daily challenges presented these past two years from COVID related
illnesses, our students had an excellent year academically in 2021- 2022. Review
of STAAR Tests and End of Course Exam scores show Brookeland ISD students
scoring well above state, regional, and local schools. These excellent scores are a
credit to our teachers, students, administrators, parents, and community members
that value the quality of education that our district provides.
Two years ago, we completed construction on our new Elementary school, paying
for the school entirely from our district fund balance, without the need to pass a
bond proposal or Tax Rate Election that would require a majority vote from district
This summer, we were able to complete a variety of projects to upgrade our school.
The most pressing need was to replace the floor in our high school building. Our
floor installers removed all carpet, rebuilt the sub floor, and installed flooring
similar to the new floors in our Elementary school and cafeteria. In addition to new
flooring, we upgraded the high school hall with LED lighting and new paint.
Our district is well prepared to meet the needs of all students for the near and
foreseeable future. In addition, the district will continue to review our daily
procedures, developing additional safety and security upgrades to benefit our
students and faculty.
I encourage you to search all of the information available at our school district
website at We look forward to another year of educational
excellence in Brookeland – please feel free to contact us or stop by for a visit.
