Door Decorating
High School
Spirit Poster Contest
Elementary
At a time that is convenient for you, the classroom teacher, your class will decorate a poster which will be displayed in the new gym. For jr. high and high school, each grade will make their own poster. This year, we are asking that the teachers get their own paper from the lounge for their posters. This gives you the chance to choose the color and size that you would like to have for your poster.
After your posters have been completed, please hang them in the new gym. If you are unable to do this, please let Mrs. Hilderbrand or Mrs. Strother know and someone will be sent to your room to collect your poster and hang it for you. Posters will be judged on Monday, November 5th. The winners of the contest will be announced on Friday, November 9th.
Parade Floats
The Alumni Assosciation asked that we help promote the parade and encourage student participation. As usual, students who were selected to be on the Homecoming Court are expected to be in the parade. In addition to the Duchesses, each grade is asked to enter the parade. Students can either ride on a float or walk together as a group.
Junior High and High School students will work with their class sponsors at designated times on Friday to decorate their floats. (See the attached schedule for daily events)
***Each class will have a designated person to run errands during float preparation days. This person will be required to wear a name badge for easy identification. We are doing this in an attempt to reduce the number of students running around campus unattended and to eliminate any potential discipline issues. Any student caught running errands without a name badge will be sent to the office.
All elementary teachers will have their class (or a combination of classes) enter the parade. Please feel free to utilize the times designated as “float preparation time” in the same manner as mentioned above for high school students. You may also choose to decorate your float prior to the parade on Saturday morning. I took the liberty of writing two letters that you may copy and send home—one if you choose to solicit additional support on this project on the “designated float days,” and another which requests help only on Saturday morning.

Homecoming elections for Pre-K through 11th Grade will take place on Wednesday, October 17th. Pre-K and Kindergarten classes, the teacher may pull a name out of a hat or the class may vote for a duchess/duke. This will be done at the discretion of the teacher. For grades 1 through 11, the students will elect a class duchess/duke by secret ballot. The teacher will count the ballots and turn the results in to the office. Re-voting will take place only in case of a tie. Winners will be announced at the end of the day. Both the duchess and duke must be passing all classes. The parent consent form must be completed before the student can accept the honor. The same student may not serve as the homecoming duchess or duke two years in a row. The duke will be chosen from among classmates. Other modifications may be made at the discretion of the principal
Homecoming Queen Elections
Voting for Homecoming Queen will take place on Wednesday, October 17th, and is restricted to students in grades 9-12. All senior girls will be voted on and the top five girls will walk in the homecoming ceremonies. The senior duchesses must be escorted by a family member or a member of the senior class.
