My name is Marcia Marler. I am the K/1 Math teacher for Brookeland Elementary. I am one of the Junior High Cheer coaches and the National Honors Society Advisor. This is my third year at Brookeland and I love being a part of the Wildcat family!! 

 

Grading Policy: Daily Work 40%    Test 60%

 

Kindergarten Math Syllabus 


Topic 1 

Numbers 0 to 5

Students will Count, Recognize, Read and Write numbers 0 to 5.

Topic 2 

Comparing Numbers 0 to 5

Students will compare sets that are 1 and 2 more and 1 and 2 less for numbers 0 to 5.

Topic 3 

Numbers 6 to 10

Students will count, recognize, read and write numbers 6 - 10.

Topic 4 

Comparing Numbers 6 to 10

Students will compare sets that are 1 and 2 more and 1 and 2 less for numbers 6 to 10.

Topic 5 

Numbers to 20

Students will count, read, write and compare numbers through 20.

Topic 6 

Numbers to 30

Students will count, read, write and compare numbers through 30.

Topic 7 

Understanding Addition

Students will use addition to join groups and find sums.

Topic 8 

Understanding Subtraction

Students will use subtraction to take away and find differences.




Topic 9

Money

Students will identify a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.

Topic 10

More Addition & Subtraction

Students will show addition and subtraction using related facts 4- 10.

Topic 11

Counting to 100

Students will count and recognize patterns on a 100s chart.

Topic 12

Two Dimensional Shapes

Students will analyze similarities and differences, sort, determine attributes, and create shapes.

Topic 13 

Three Dimensional Shapes

Students will compare, sort, and analyze flat surfaces of three dimensional shapes.

Topic 14

Measurement 

Students will compare length, height, capacities, and weight. 

Topic 15 

Data 

Students will collect data, interpret real graphs, and picture graphs. 

Topic 16 

Personal Financial Literacy

Students will learn ways to earn money, determine wants and needs, and gifts and income. 

 

First Grade Math Syllabus 


Topic 1

Understanding Addition

Students will recognize spatial patterns for 9 and 10, create addition expressions and number sentences, analyze stories about joining, and add in any order.

Topic 2

Understanding Subtraction

Students will find missing parts of 6 through 9, create subtraction expressions and number sentences, analyze stories about comparing, separating and missing parts.

Topic 3

Five and Ten Relationships

Students will represent and recognize numbers on a ten frame, analyze parts of 10, and find missing parts of 10. 

Topic 4

Addition and Subtraction to 12

Students will apply basic fact strategies to add and subtract to 12.

Topic 5

Addition and Subtraction to 20

Students will apply basic fact strategies to add and subtract to 20.

Topic 6

More Addition and Subtraction

Students apply properties of operations to add and subtract two or three numbers.

Topic 7

Counting and Number Patterns to 100

Students will recite numbers forward and backward from any given number between 1 and 120

Topic 8

Tens and Ones

Students can count and add using tens and ones.

Topic 9

Numbers to 120

Students can count and represent numbers to 120.

Topic 10

Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 120

Students can compare and put numbers in order to 100. 

Topic 11

Money

Students can identify the value of a penny, nickel, dime and quarter, and count sets of coins.

Topic 12

Geometry

Students can sort, identify, and create 2D and 3D shapes.

Topic 13

Fractions of Shapes

Students can create equal parts and identify halves and forths.

Topic 14

Measurement

Students can understand the hour and minute hands, estimate length, and measure using different tools.

Topic 15

Data

Students can use data from picture and bar graphs, collect data using tally marks, and create bar and picture graphs.

Topic 16

Personal Financial Literacy

Students can identify wants and needs, spending and savings and income.
