Anatomy and Physiology
Anatomy is a science elective course not for the faint of heart (pun intended). This course is intended for those that are serious about seeking a career in the medical field, such as: nursing, veterinary, personal trainer, medical scientist, dentistry, pharmaceuticals or family practitioner to name a few. My class is an introductory course to the college level Anatomy class. We will go in depth into all of the organ systems and how they work together, plus common medical terminology. I recommend students that are at least in the 11th or 12th grade to take this class. I will be hosting labs throughout the year and there will be dissecting of various organs that are relevant to the topic at hand.
Attached is my course syllabus, which gives a snapshot of what we will be covering this year. Students that are planning to take this course must have the mindset to learn.
Grading Policy
Per district policy tests will make up 60% of the student's grades while daily work makes up 40%.
Make-Up Work Procedures:
According to district policy, students have 3 days to turn in make-up work from the last date of absence. This includes school-sponsored activities as well.
Retake Policy
If a student receives a failing grade on a daily assignment or test, they will be given 3 days to retake or correct from the date of return according to handbook guidelines. Furthermore, that assignment cannot exceed a maximum grade of 70 according to the handbook. It is also at the discretion of the teacher to assign detention due to missing work and assignments.
